Nicholas Tindal M.A. was educated at Winchester; entered Trinity College Cambridge 3 September 1827; matriculated Michaelmas 1829; B.A. 1833; M.A. 1836. Admitted to Lincoln's Inn 18 April 1833.3 He married Anne Frances Schweitzer, daughter of John George Schweitzer, on 9 April 1839 in St. Sidwell's Church, Exeter, Devon, the service was conducted by the Rev. S.J. Lott.4 Rev. Nicholas Tindal M.A. died on 25 August 1842 in Sandhurst, Gloucester, at the age of 32.5,6

Nicolas Charles Tindal

     Nicolas Charles Tindal was born on 27 November 1857 in London.1 He was the son of Vice-Admiral Louis Symonds Tindal and Henrietta Maria O'Donel White. Nicolas Charles Tindal was baptised on 8 February 1858 at St. Peter's, Notting Hill, London.2 He was educated at Westminster School to which he was admitted on 26 September 1872 and left at Christmas 1874.3 He could possibly be the N.C. Tindal aged 35 who is recorded as having arrived in Australia on board the Port Pirie on 3 February 1888.4 He arrived in Sydney on 13 January 1890 as 2nd mate on the 33 ton missionary steamer Ellengowan in-bound from the South Sea islands; he is listed as super-caro when the same vessel docks again in Sydney on 4 December 1891, this time from the Solomon Islands.

He married Minnie Thursa Louise McDonald, daughter of John McDonald and Melinda (Unknown), in 1895 on Island of Faisi, Shortland Islands, Solomon Islands. Nicolas Charles Tindal died on 4 January 1901 at the age of 43 at sea aboard the SS Titus and was buried on Lord Howe Island.

     Sir Nicolas Conyngham Tindal. Chief Justice of the Common Pleas. He was born on 12 December 1776 in Coval Hall, near Chelmsford, Essex.1 He was the son of Robert Tindal and Sarah Pocock.1 Sir Nicolas Conyngham Tindal married Merelina Symonds, daughter of Capt. Thomas Symonds RN and Elizabeth Malet, on 2 September 1809 in Milford, Hampshire.2 Sir Nicolas Conyngham Tindal died on 6 July 1846 in Folkestone at the age of 69 at 7.30 in the evening1 and is buried on 14 July 1846 in Kensal Green Cemetery, Middlesex.1 Probate of the will and codicil of the late Right Hon. Sir Nicholas Conyngham Tindal, Knt., Lord Chief-Justice of her Majesty's Court of Common Pleas, at Westminster, has been granted to his executors, Charles John Tindal, James Whatman Bosanquet, and Daniel Smith Bockett, Esquires. The personal estate was valued at 45,000l. His will was made in September, 1842. He has devised certain freeholds at Chelmsford and Aylesbury to his eldest surviving son, Louis Symonds Tindal, and his only other son, Charles John Tindal; and has directed his executors and trustees to dispose of and convert into money the rest of his freeholds, with all manors and hereditaments, and all other estates, real, leasehold, or personal. Bequeaths to his daughter, Merelina, wife of the said J. W. Bosanquet, a legacy of 2,000l., having amply provided for her on her marriage. Directs his executors to invest 8,000l. for the widow of his son, Nicholas, and their two infant daughters, and has also made provision for other members of his family; has left legacies to his servants, and by his codicil, made in February last, leaves to his faithful housekeeper, who has been thirty years in his service an annuity of 40l. The residue of his property, of every description, to be equally divided between his two sons. His Lordship was in his sixty-ninth year.3

He was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge, taking his B.A. degree in 1845 and his M.A. in 1848. He entered at Lincoln's Inn on May 3,1845, and afterwards practised as a special pleader in Paper Buildings, Temple. For many years ho enjoyed a large practice, and was well known at Judges' Chambers. He was called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn in 1885, but never appeared in Court.3
