A private funeral service was held on Friday. May 8, 1981, for Dr. Allen Dorrien Temple, who died, after a lengthy illness. in Ste. Anne's Veterans Hospital, on May 5 1981, in his 75th year.
Born in Toronto in 1906 the son of the late Mrs. and Mr. R.H.M. Temple Q.C., he was educated at Brown's School in Toronto and Kelvin High School in Winnipeg. He took his premedical training at the University of Manitoba and graduated in Medicine from McGill University in 1930. He interned at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. In the following eight years, in addition to his private practice in N.D.G. he served on the staffs of the Royal Victoria and Children's Memorial Hospitals and the Royal Edward Institute In 1938, he returned from England where he had been engaged in special studies and joined the Victoria Rifles of Canada as medical officer and served with them in Montreal and St John's, Newfoundland. In 1943, he went to England with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps as Chief Medical Officer of No. 10 Canadian General Hospital.
After the war, he returned to Canada with the rank of Lt. Colonel and joined the Department of Veteran's Affairs. He opened and was in charge of the St. Hyacinthe Veterans' Hospital until it was transferred to Ste. Annes from where he retired in 1971. During his career, he devoted many years to the treatment of chest diseases. For many years, he was active in the Montreal Lakeshore Rotary Club and the Churchill Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Besides his widow, the former Jane Lyster, he is survived by a son, John, of Montreal, two daughters, Susan, of Mississauga. Ontario, and Mrs George Tremblay (Gillian). of St. Constant, Quebec, a sister, Mrs. John Wightman, of Montreal West, and five grandchildren. Burial was in the St James' Cemetery, Hudson Heights, Quebec.4

Claude Castlemaine Temple was killed in action on 2 October 1916 in France at the age of 34 he has no known grave, his name appears on the Vimy Memorial.3 Educated at Upper Canada College, Toronto, Ontario. On the outbreak of war he was Manager of a Western Branch of the Northern Crown Bank; joined the Canadian Force on the outbreak of war, and came over with the first contingent in October 1914; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders; was wounded at the Second Battle of Ypres in April 1915, and was invalided to England; on recovery received a commission and was gazetted 2nd. Lieut. 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles; promoted Lieut. in March, 1916; was reported wounded and missing 3 October following, while endeavouring to establish communications with another battalion, and is now assumed to have been killed in action on or about that date.1

     Gertrude Loring Temple was born on 1 February 1865 in Québec.2 She was the daughter of Charles Vesey Macdonald Temple and Mary Jones "Minnie" Plenderleath.1 Gertrude Loring Temple was baptised on 24 March 1865 at Québec by E.W. Sewall.2 She died on 31 March 1918 in Toronto at the age of 53 of pneumonia.3
