Mrs. Katharine Sewall died very suddenly last Sunday afternoon at her home on Washington street, of heart disease. Mrs. Sewall was apparently in good health earlier in the afternoon and although it was known that she had heart trouble, her death came very unexpectedly.
Mrs. Sewall was born in Monroe, Mich, in 1842. Her father was Major Henry Smith of the Engineering corps of the United States army and was one of the well known soldiers of the Mexican war. She was married in 1866 to Edmund Quincy Sewall of the Bagley and Sewall firm in this city and has lived all of her life, since her marriage, in Watertown. Mr. Sewall died in 1892 and since that time Mrs. Sewall has been half owner of the plant. She was one of the best known residents of the city and has been prominent in the church and charitable work. She leaves four daughters Mrs. W.C. Stefbhins, Mrs. C.W Valentine and Miss Elizabeth Sewall of this city and Mrs. B.K. Emerson of Worcester. She is survived also by three sisters, Mrs. F.T. Storey of this city, Mrs. A.W. Synder of Elmhurst, L.I, and Mrs. S.H. Wagener of San Jose, Cal.8

New York, October 4th, 1784.

Sir:

By the will of Mrs. Smith, Relicque of Judge William Smith, find there is left a legacie of one hundred dollars [£30] to Mary Smith, daughter of Mr. John Smith, merchant of this place, which said Mary Smith is my wife. By the will Mr. Ezekial Williams is appointed an executor. This with many legacies bequeathed is to be paid out of the Annuityes due from the estate of Judge Smith. Its long since the same should have been paid. The season is fast approaching which requires every comfort, and I am very poorly provided with the means to obtain them. As this Legacie will be the means of contributing much to the number of necessaries we shall stand in need of, must request you to demand from Mr. Williams the said hundred dollars; in case he cannot pay you the same, then desire an order in my favor on Thomas Smith, Esqr., who is at present the Acting Executor to his father's estate and from whence the payments must arise of the different legacies left by Mrs. Smith. Your compliance with the above will greatly serve Sir, your humble servant

Chrisr. Bancker.
