Sir William le Botiler was the son of Sir Ralph le Botiler of Pulverbatch and Norbury and Hawise Gobion.1 Sir William le Botiler died probably before 28 October 1349 being the date on which one William Sampson was presented to the church of Northbury, in the diocese of Coventry and Lichfield, in the king's gift by reason of his custody of the lands and heir of William le Botiller, tenant in chief but said by Chester to be d.s.p.1,2

William le Botiler of Oversley and Wemme was the son of Ralph le Botiler of Oversley and Maud Pantulf Baroness of Wem.1 William le Botiler of Oversley and Wemme married Angharad verch Griffith ap Madog, daughter of Gruffudd ap Madog, Lord of Dinas Brân and Emma Audley, after 2 October 1261.2 On 4 February 1282 after an inquisition ad quod damnum William le Botiller received a licence to enclose and impark his woods of Dodonton and Lopinton, co. Salop.3 William le Botiler of Oversley and Wemme died before 11 December 1283 his IPM is C 133/39/5 in the National Archives which lists him as William le Boteler alias le Botyler, le Butyller, le Buttelir (Butler), of Wemme (Wem): Leicestershire, Shropshire, Warwickshire, Wiltshire, Hampshire.2,4 Waters says that he is the ancestor of the Lords Boteler of Wemme and Sudeley.5
