He first settled in Montreal and then in Toronto. He was one of the original members of the Upper Canada Medical Board, retired from practice in 1817; appointed clerk of the House of Assembly and later as Clerk of the Legislative Council.^4,2 He died on 10 June 1838 in Toronto at the age of 59 however the Toronto Patriot gives a date of 12 June 1838.^2,3
