In 1301 Roger FitzJordan de Puleston appears in the Yorkshire Lay Subsidy: 30 Ed. I Salop. - Roger de Baskerville and Roger son of Jordan de Pulesdon, and William de Hodenet deceased, 804li 5s. 9d.3

Roger Puleston of Emral (fl. 1447.)1 He was the son of John Puleston of Emral and Angharad Hanmer.1 Roger Puleston of Emral married secondly Janet Bulkeley, daughter of Thomas Bulkeley and Elizabeth Warburton, in 1468 or 1482 probably which was the date of the marriage settlement, however Ormerod in his History of Chester gives a date of 1 June 1468 and records a note "Md. the like covenants of marriage betweene the selfe same P'ties v'batim, but dated 14th October ano 22 Edw. 4, by the which it seemeth the marriage effected not till then."2,3

Sir Roger Puleston of Emral was the son of Sir Richard de Puleston of Emral and Angharad/ Angreta Warren.2 Sir Roger Puleston of Emral married Gwenhwyfar (Angharad or Margaret) ferch Llewellyn, ap Ynyr, daughter of Llewellyn ap Ynyr Lord of Gelligynan in Yale, according to Nicholas there were three sons of this marriage.3 On 18 May 1331 Commission to John de Wysham, justice of North Wales, William Botiller of Wemme, Roger de Peulesdon and Roger Carles to examine the inquisition returned into the Chancery on a former commission to the said William and others touching a complaint by Griffin de la Pole that John de Cherleton in the time of the late king ejected him from his lands in Dendor and Meghen Iscoyt in the land of Powys in North Wales, held in chief, and burned his houses and buildings, to take fresh inquisitions if necessary and to do full and speedy justice according to the law and custom of those parts. By K. & C.4 Sir Roger Puleston of Emral died circa 1339.1

Sir Roger de Puleston of Emral1

Sir Roger de Puleston of Emral was the son of Richard de Puleston and Agnes (Unknown). Sir Roger de Puleston of Emral married Agnes (or Jane) Le Clerke, daughter of David Le Clerke Baron of Malpas and Angharad (Unknown).1 On 12 June 1256 Commission to Odo de Hodenet, Stephen de Buterleg and Roger de Piuelesdon to make an extent of the manor of Ellesmere by jury of the vicinage to be provided by the sheriff of Salop ; and to rent the same to the barons of the Exchequer at Westminster.2 On 20 March 1284 appointed Sheriff of Anglesey.3 As Constable of Caernarvon to which he had been appointed sometime after 1289, he was responsible for levying the unpopular tax on moveables which precipitated the revolt led by Madog ap Llywelyn in the autumn of 1294, during the course of which he lost his life in a Welsh raid on the borough of Caernarvon. Puleston was either beheaded or hanged, depending on the source, but Dwnn notes that he suffered both fates consecutively, as did his assistants.4,1,5 On 26 August 1295 at Westminster pardon was granted to the heirs and the executors of the will or Roger de Puelesdon, knight, who was slain in Wales on the king's service, of all debts in which he was bound to the king for the whole time that he was sheriff in Anglesea or on his service elsewhere.6
