LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, April 7, 2011 in The Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Frances Givens Sewall,88, who passed away on April 4, 2011 at 5:00 am at Maison De Lafayette.
Reverend Thomas Trees, Associate Rector of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension will conduct the services.
Mrs. Sewall, known to her Lillian or "Sis", was a life-long resident of Lafayette. She was the daughter of the late John Slye Givens and the former Anna Hopkins. Mrs. Sewall and her husband owned Givens Insurance Agency in Lafayette, a firm founded by her parents in 1904. The firm is thought to be the first insurance agency to open in the Lafayette area. The firm was acquired by her son-in-law and merged with Brokers Insurance Agency in 1986 to form Brokers - Givens Insurance Agency. She was a graduate of Southwestern Louisiana Institute (SLI), now know as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She was an avid bridge player and a member of Toujours Fidele women's club, Krewe of Zeus, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension.
She is survived by one daughter, Eleanor "Deedie" Robison and her husband, Glen of Lafayette; four sons, Peter Sewall and his wife, Jill of Koosharem, Utah, Robert Sewall and his wife, Sue of Lafayette, Mark Sewall and his wife, Stephanie of Houma, and Paul Sewall III and his wife, Laurie of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Jamie Robinson, Brad Sewall, Scott Robison, Glen Robison, and Paul Sewall IV; five great grandchildren, Zac Sewall, Grace Sewall and Xander, Xavier and Grace Robinson; one sister, Anna Givens Snyder of Sarasota, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul H. Sewall, Jr., four sisters, Edwin Gardiner, Sarah Agnes Gercke Gardiner, Lyle Givens Williams, and Mattie Givens Belle; four brothers, Royall Givens, John Givens, Thomas Givens, and Richard Givens. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday from 9:00 am until service time. Pallbearers will be Brad Sewall, Scott Robison, Glen Robison, and Paul Sewall IV.3,2
