Elizabeth Wendell¹

Elizabeth Wendell was baptised on 20 August 1704 at Dutch Church, New York.² She was the daughter of Abraham Wendell and Katrina de Kay. Elizabeth Wendell married Judge Edmund Quincy, son of Edmund Quincy, "The Subscriber" and Dorothy Flynt, on 15 April 1725 in Boston.^3,2 He graduated at Harvard in 1722. Resided in Boston, but returned to Braintree about 1748 for a time. He was a merchant in Boston and through financial difficulties was forced to part with the paternal estate and house of Edmund Quincy which was mortgaged in 1754 and sold to his brother in law Edward Jackson in 1755 who lived here sometime. His heirs sold it in 1763 to Robert Williams of Boston who sold to James and Sarah Bradford, whence it went to widow Mary Alleyne, Moses Black, Daniel Greenleaf, Ebenezer Woodward, & Peter Butler.² Elizabeth Wendell died on 7 November 1769 in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of 65.²

Evert Jansen Wendell¹

Evert Jansen Wendell was born in 1615 in Emden, East Friesland, Holland.¹ He came to New Amsterdam circa 1642.² He married first Susanna Du Trieux, daughter of Philip Du Trieux and Susanna De Scheene, on 31 July 1644.³ Moved to Fort Orange (now Albany) in or about 1651, where, in 1656 be became a ruling elder of the Dutch church, orphan master in 1657, and magistrate in 1660 and 1661. His lot in Albany was on the west corner of James and State streets, which after his death was owned by his son Thomas.³ Evert Jansen Wendell married secondly Maritje Abrahamse Vosburgh, daughter of Abraham Peter Vosburgh, in 1663.³ Evert Jansen Wendell married thirdly Ariaantje (Unknown) after 1677.³ Evert Jansen Wendell died in 1702 or 1709 in Albany, New York.¹
