Daniel Sewall and Angelina Brown.¹ William Alfred Sewall married Ellen Jospehine Finch circa 1863.⁴ William Alfred Sewall and Ellen Jospehine Finch appear on the census of 1900 at Center Twp., Indiana, William is listed as a musician, they have a couple of lodgers who work on the street cars.⁴ William Alfred Sewall died on 4 March 1931 in Retsil, Kitsap County, Washington, at the age of 86.³

     William Arden Sewall was born circa 1868 in Oregon Township, California.¹ He was the son of Hiram Stoyle Sewall and Eliza M. (Unknown).¹ William Arden Sewall and Hiram Stoyle Sewall appear on the census of 1880 at Lakeview, Lake, Oregon, listed as traveling with three drovers on a cattle drive. By this stage Hiram Sewall is divorced.²

     William Bartlett Sewall was born on 18 December 1782 in York, Maine.² He was the son of Daniel Sewall and Dorcas Bartlett.¹ William Bartlett Sewall was baptised on 28 December 1782.³ He studied for the law and entered the office of Isaac Parker of Portland. After the elevation of that gentleman to the bench Sewall entered into a partnership with Mr. Mellen who was happy to do the advocacy whilst he remained in the office but he still preferred the quiet pursuits of the scholar, and devoted much time to poetry and prose composition. While in practice, he prepared and published a Register of Maine. He was Secretary of the Senate; and later, he assumed editorship of the the Portland Advertiser.⁴ He graduated in 1803 from Harvard.¹ He married as his first wife Elizabeth Cross, daughter of Joseph Cross Jr., on 26 November 1816 at Portland, Cumberland County, Maine.^5,3 William Bartlett Sewall married secondly Maria Moody Gilpatrick, daughter of Richard Gilpatrick and Dorothy Rose Moody, on 26 January 1841 at Kennebunk.⁶ William Bartlett Sewall died on 4 March 1869 in Kennebunk, Maine, at the age of 86 s.p.⁵

     William Benjamin Dunning Sewall was born on 4 October 1839 in Pittsfield.¹ He was the son of Dummer Sewall and Phoebe Higgins.² William Benjamin Dunning Sewall died on 9 January 1863 in Fairfax Station, Virginia, at the age of 23.¹

He was born on 29 July 1881 in Houston, Texas.² He was the son of Edward Wailes Sewall and Gabriella Harriet (Ella) Campbell.¹ William Cleveland Sewall is also recorded as Cleveland Sewall on the 1900 census.³ He married Blanche Harding, daughter of Hallock Harding and Kate Buchanan, on 23 November 1910 in Forth Worth, Texas.⁴ William Cleveland Sewall died on 25 December 1942 at 3452 Inwood Drive, Houston, Texas, at the age of 61 at 5.55 p.m.¹ He was buried on 26 December 1942 in San Antonio, Texas.²

     William Dummer Sewall was born on 15 July 1813 in Chesterville, Franklin County, Maine.^1,2 He was the son of Dummer Sewall and Sarah or Sally Mirrick.¹

     William Dunning Sewall was born on 16 January 1797. He was the son of Joseph Sewall and Lydia Marsh.² William Dunning Sewall married Rachel Allen Trufant, daughter of William Trufant, on 1 January 1821 in Bath, Maine.³ "inherited considerable landed estate from his grandfather; engaged in shipbuilding; was a member of the Senate from Lincoln in 1841 & 1842 and was once a member of the congregational church in Bath but became a Swenborgian."² William Dunning Sewall died on 30 January 1877 at the age of 80 ⁴ and is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bath, Maine.⁴

Sewall in the 1870 census of Bath, Maine.³ He married Mary Loke Sumner, daughter of George Sumner and Sarah Richardson, on 9 June 1886 in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.⁴ William Dunning Sewall died on 25 April 1930 in Boston Post Road, Kittery, Maine, at the age of 69, in an automobile accident. His sister-in-law, Mrs. Caroline Liscomb was injured.⁵ He was a member of the firm Arthur Sewall & Co., Shipbuilders Bath, Maine. After graduating from the Worcester, Massachusetts Polytechnical Institute in 1882 he went on to study at John Hopkins University. He then entered a mercantile office in San Francisco remaining there for three years. He then returned to Bath to become a member of the Sewall shipbuilding company. He became president of the Bath Savings Institution; director of the Fidelity Trust Company of Portland; director of the Sandy River and Rangely Lakes railroad.⁴

     William Dunning Sewall was born on 8 March 1804 in Chesterville, Franklin County, Maine.^1,2 He was the son of Dummer Sewall and Jenny Dunning. William Dunning Sewall married Mary Ann Kellins on 29 September 1826. William Dunning Sewall died on 18 August 1839 in Chesterville, Maine, at the age of 35.¹

Former Bainbridge resident William D. Sewall, 83, of Bath, Maine, died April 26.
He was born in Bath, Maine, on Jan. 22, 1921, the son of Arthur and Laura Barler Sewall. He was educated at Choate School in Wallingford, Conn., and earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He served in the United States military from September 1942 to February 1946. He was awarded two medals and several military citations.
He and his wife, the former Phebe Buckman, moved to Seattle in 1951, and to Bainbridge Island in 1956. He worked as an accountant for Boeing and as a stock broker for Dominick & Dominick before owning and operating Western Tours, Inc. While in Bainbridge, he co-founded the Port Madison Yacht Club. He was a lifelong Rotarian. He retired in 1979 and returned to his family home, Stonehouse Farm, in Maine. He devoted the remainder of his life to a variety of civic and philanthropic concerns. His first project after returning to Bath was to help with fund-raising for the restoration of the steeple of the Winter Street Church. He helped open the new Maine Maritime Museum; presided over and fund-raising for the Coastal Humane Society; was actively involved in the Bath Rotary; and delivered Meals on Wheels to senior citizens. He also co-founded the Sewall Family Fund for the purpose of restoring and preserving Bath's maritime history and artifacts. His favorite charities included the Coastal Humane Society, the Bath YMCA, the Maine Maritime Museum, the Patten Free Library and the city of Bath ambulance service.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1993, and sister Mary Hyde, who died in 1990. He is survived by four daughters: Abbie Sewall of Yarmouth, Maine; Laura Sewall of Phippsburg, Maine; Gretchen Sewall and her husband Harry Laban of Edmonds, Washington; and Lee Sewall and her husband Mike McAleney of Cumberland, Maine; six grandchildren, Emma and Thatcher Sewall Shultz of Yarmouth, Maine; Emmett and Asher Laban of Edmonds, Wash; Deehan and Elizabeth McAleney of Cumberland, Maine; and three nieces and nephews. Sewall, Jr., of the firm Clark, Sewall & Co., of this city, while walking on the box stage of a new ship suddenly lost his balance and fell a distance of about 18 feet. On reaching the ground he received so severe a contusion in his head as to terminate fatally in a few hours". Bath Tribune³ and is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bath, Maine,, where his gravestone gives his date of death as 24 September 1851.⁴

     William F. Sewall was born on 19 May 1837.¹ He was the son of Sawyer Sewall and Patience M. Tarbox.¹ William F. Sewall died on 5 September 1843 in Westport at the age of 6.¹

     William G. Sewall was born circa 1838 in Maine.¹ He was the son of Samuel Moody Sewall and Mary A. Ordway.¹ William G. Sewall appears on the census of 1860 at Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine, listed as a turner of wood.¹

      An insurance dealer of New York.² William Gibbs Sewall was born on 22 January 1856.¹ He was the son of Dr. John Gallison Sewall and Joanna White Gannett.¹ William Gibbs Sewall appears on the census of 1900 at 77th Street, New York, living with his mother and sister.³ He died on 30 May 1916 in Manhattan, New York, at the age of 60.^2,4

     William Gilman Sewall was born on 11 March 1874 at 26 Brimmer, Boston, Massachusetts.³ He was the son of William Bull Sewall and Lena I. Ingalls.¹ William Gilman Sewall married Angela de Acosta, daughter of Ricardo de Acosta, on 15 November 1910 in 1037 Madison Avenue, New York.⁴ In 1919 he was in British East Africa at the time of his brother's death.² William Gilman Sewall and Angela de Acosta were divorced in October 1922 at Paris, France.⁵ William Gilman Sewall died on 14 July 1941 in the Post Graduate Hospital, New York City, at the age of 67 of a cerebral haemorrhage. The announcement in The Times describes him as being of Boston, Massachusetts and Njoro, Kenya. The New York Times gives a fuller picture and describes him as a big game hunter who owned 40,000 acres of rubber and wheat plantations in Kenya. Several of his game trophies adorn the Harvard Club in New York. In the first world war he served as a captain in the British Army and was on the staff of General Smith-Dorrien in the expedition to Kenya.^6,7

     William Hanson Sewall was born on 22 April 1854.¹ He was the son of Rev. Rufus King Sewall and Anne Elizabeth Whitehurst.¹ William Hanson Sewall died on 31 January 1855.¹

Gray.¹ William Harmon Sewall married Lydia Jane Moore, daughter of Oliver Moore, on 11 November 1847 in York, Maine.² William Harmon Sewall died on 3 July 1864 in York, Maine, at the age of 43 ³ and is buried in South Side Cemetery, York Village.³

     William J. Sewall was born in April 1846 probably in Maine.² He was the son of Rev. William Stinson Sewall and Miriam Purington.¹ William J. Sewall married Mary (Unknown) circa 1873.² William J. Sewall and Mary (Unknown) appear on the census of 1900 at Keene, New Hampshire, he is a tinsmith.²
