     Charles D. Sewall was born on 5 July 1865 in Maine (this date is from the California Death Index, however Sinnett gives a date of 5 July 1861 and the various Census give dates varying between 1862 and 1868).^1,2,3 He was the son of Henry Sewall and Harriet Virginia Smith.¹ Charles D. Sewall was living in California.¹ He married Ethel May Stone as her second husband after 30 October 1902. In the Licence to Marry she is named as Mrs. Ethel Stone.^4,5 Charles D. Sewall and Ethel May Stone appear on the census of 1910 at Louise Street, Oakland, California, he is then a Collector on the railroad.⁴ Charles D. Sewall and Ethel May Stone appear on the census of 1930 at Louise Street, Alameda, Oakland, California, and shows him employed as a custodian at a club house.⁶ Charles D. Sewall died on 28 January 1940 in Alameda, California, at the age of 74.³

     Charles Edgar Sewall was born on 6 February 1831 in Maine.^2,3 He was the son of Benjamin Chapman Sewall and Paulina Fairfield Wentworth.¹ Charles Edgar Sewall married Martha E. Kingsley, daughter of Daniel Kingsley and Polly (Mary) Reynolds, on 14 October 1861. Charles Edgar Sewall died before 1900.⁴

     Charles Edwin Sewall Jr. was born on 1 June 1972 in Cherokee County, Texas.¹ He died on 7 February 1976 in Jacksonville, Texas, at the age of 3 Mother is recorded as Linda B. Simmons on the death record.²

     Charles F. Sewall was born on 15 October 1934 in Brunswick, Maine.² He was the son of Willard M. Sewall and Ruth W. Plummer.¹ Charles F. Sewall died on 8 September 2011 in Winthrop, Maine, at the age of 76

AUGUSTA -- Charles F. Sewall, 76, of Augusta, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at Heritage Rehabilitation Center in Winthrop after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.

He was born in Brunswick on Oct. 15, 1934, the son of Willard and Ruth (Plummer) Sewall. He graduated from Rockland High School in 1953 and from the University of Maine in 1957 with a degree in business. Charles enjoyed a long career with GTE Sylvania as director of human resources, retiring after 30 years of service. He was well-respected and liked by all who worked with him.

Mr. Sewall had a lifelong passion for music, playing saxophone and clarinet. While in high school, he played in the Dixie Land Band. As an adult, he played in the Old Hallowell Band and the Augusta Symphony.

Charlie was also an accomplished photographer. He had photos and an article published in the children's edition of National Geographic magazine. He built a darkroom in his house in Jefferson, where he spent time developing and printing original photographs.

Charlie took pleasure in tracing his family's genealogy back to the 1600s. He enjoyed spending time on his computer, doing research, and loved being with his wonderful grandchildren. He was an avid traveler, making multiple cross-country trips, including visits to Colorado and Civil War battlefields. He was particularly interested in this time period in our country's history. Charlie also enjoyed traveling within his home state of Maine, especially Baxter State Park, the Allagash, Gulf Hagas and Tumbledown Mountain. He took pleasure in many outdoor hobbies, including ice fishing, canoeing, hiking, camping, biking, target shooting and sight-seeing along Maine's beautiful coast and lakes. He shared these activities with his sons, who now share the same interests with their friends and family. After his retirement, he enjoyed going to fairs, where he worked at the windows at several horse racing venues. Charlie made frequent visits to his family in Florida, Maryland and Little Deer Isle. Visiting his sons was always a priority, regardless of where they lived.

Even during the last years of his struggle with Parkinson's disease, Charlie never said a word of complaint about his condition. Instead, he always found ways to enjoy the simple pleasures of watching birds at his window feeder, spending time with his family and savoring his Dunkin' Donuts Coolattas. He was a gifted, loving, intelligent man, but he will be best remembered as simply being a good man.

Charlie is survived by his loving, devoted longtime companion, Joline Rees; his sons, Charles H. Sewall of Pennsburg, Pa., and Christopher J. Sewall (sons of Marianne Perry) and Chris's wife, Linda Moran, of Hope; his stepdaughter, Jodi Meader and her husband, Lawrence, of Farmingdale; his sister, Daurice Caron and her husband, George, of Lady Lake, Fla., and his grandchildren, Gwenyvere, Fiona and Shea Sewall, Lillian and Rebecca Meader, and Charles Baxter Sewall. He will be missed by other loved ones from his extended family and friends, including Sandy Cushman and Sherri Lewis.

A memorial service will be held at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until service time.

     Charles Grenville Sewall was born on 24 February 1940 in Andover, Massachusetts. He was the son of Grenville Strong Sewall and Emilie Robb Collens. Charles Grenville Sewall died on 23 April 1994 in South Portland, Maine, at the age of 54.^1,2 He was the owner and manager of the Gordian Knot restaurant in New York City and managed the Black Pearl restaurant in Newport, Rhode Island. He was an yachtsman and a member of the Christmas Cove fleet at Southport, where he was a summer resident.¹

     Rev. Charles Grenville Sewall was born on 4 August 1872 in Newark, New York.² He was the son of Rev. Albert Coe Sewall D.D. and Helen S. Ives.¹ Rev. Charles Grenville Sewall married Kate Louise Strong, daughter of Rev. Dr. Augustus Hopkins Strong, on 16 January 1900 in Rome, New York.³ Rev. Charles Grenville Sewall was alive in December 1953 when he conducted his grand-daughter's wedding.⁴

     Charles H. Sewall was born on 11 July 1877.² He was the son of Charles Sewall and Margaret Perkins Ives.¹ Charles H. Sewall died on 5 January 1879 at the age of 1.¹

     Charles Henry Sewall was born on 29 March 1846 in Woburn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.^1,3 He was the son of Samuel Greene Sewall and Sarah C. Otis.²

     Commander Charles Hull Sewall was born on 6 September 1913 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, (given as 5 September 1913 in Florida Death Index).^1,2,3 He was the son of Rev. Oliver Dana Sewall and Christine Martin Bullock.¹ He retired as a captain from a 26-year career in the Navy. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and saw action in the battles of Saipan, Taiwan and Iwo Jima during World War II. He received several commendation medals. He graduated from Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H., with a degree in history and political science.⁴ Commander Charles Hull Sewall died on 2 March 1993 in Stratford Court, Palm Harbor, Florida, at the age of 79.²

     Charles Joseph Sewall was born on 9 August 1849 in Brooklyn, New York, but 9 August 1848 in Wellman.^1,2,3 He was the son of Henry Foster Sewall and Sarah Allyne Rich.¹ Charles Joseph Sewall married Anna Brooks Wellman, daughter of George Frederick Wellman and Caroline Matilda Prescott, on 15 June 1875 in Church of the Messiah, Park Avenue, New York, New York, the marriage was celebrated by the Rev. Mr. Frothingham.^4,5 Charles Joseph Sewall and Anna Brooks Wellman appear on the census of 1880 at New York (Manhattan), New York.² Charles Joseph Sewall died on 28 December 1898 in 320 West 81st Street, Manhattan, New York, at the age of 49.^1,6

     Charles Joseph Sewall was born on 6 October 1912.² He was the son of Duer Irving Sewall and Bertha Guden Adams.¹ Charles Joseph Sewall graduated in 1935 from Harvard.³ He died on 22 November 1991 in Bronxville, New York, at the age of 79.⁴

     Charles Lloyd Sewall was born on 27 March 1801.¹ He was the son of Lewis Sewall and Elizabeth Howard Wailes.¹ Charles Lloyd Sewall died on 21 August 1803 at the age of 2.¹

     Charles Lyman Sewall was born on 19 September 1905 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.^1,2 He was the son of Albert Walter Sewall and Ora Maud Wood.¹

     Charles Milton Sewall was born on 8 January 1872 probably in Sumner, Maine.^1,2 He was the son of William Ripley Sewall and Mary Jane Fairchild.¹ Charles Milton Sewall appears on the census of 1900 at Sumner, Maine, as a farmer.³ He married Sadie E. (Unknown) circa 1906.⁴ Charles Milton Sewall and Sadie E. (Unknown) appear on the census of 1910 at Taunton, Massachusetts, he is a carpenter in a machine shop and she is a teacher in a public school.⁴

     Charles Milton Howard Sewall was born on 16 January 1821.² He was the son of Lewis Sewall and Elizabeth Howard Wailes.¹

     Charles Sewall SJ was born on 4 July 1744 in Mattapany, St. Mary's County, Maryland.² He was the son of Nicholas Lewis Sewall.¹ He returned to America arriving on May 24, 1774. He was pastor at Carlisle, Pa., where he acquired the first church lot. He was the first resident priest in Baltimore, first rector of the Cathedral under Bishop Carroll, and erected the church of St. Ignatius, at St. Thomas' Manor, in Charles Co., Md. Charles Sewall SJ died on 10 November 1806 in St. Thomas' Manor at the age of 62 though his gravestone in Saint Ignatius Cemetery, Port Tobacco, gives a date of 1805.^2,3

      Principal of Wiscasset Academy.² Charles Summers Sewall was born on 1 May 1875.³ He was the son of Rev. Rufus King Sewall and Emeline Matilda Barnes.¹ Charles Summers Sewall graduated in 1897 from Bowdoin.⁴ He married firstly Ruth Shirley Groves on 24 August 1898 in Wiscasset, Maine.^1,5 Charles Summers Sewall died in 1957 ⁶ and is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wiscasset, Maine.⁶

     Charles Wallace Sewall was born circa 1871 in Rockland.² He was the son of George Washington Sewall and Lucy E. Briggs.² Charles Wallace Sewall married Frances S. Scott circa 1894.^3,4

     Charles William Sewall was born on 4 June 1848 in Maine.^1,2 He was the son of William Harmon Sewall and Lydia Jane Moore.¹ Charles William Sewall and William Harmon Sewall appear on the census of 1880 at York, Maine, where he is listed as a farmer with his youngest brother as a farm labourer.² Charles William Sewall married Belle E. Weare on 18 December 1880 in Cape Neddick, York, Maine.^1,3 Charles William Sewall died on 13 September 1883 at the age of 35 ⁴ and is buried in South Side Cemetery, York Village, Maine.⁴

     Charlie A. Sewall was born circa April 1863 in Chesterville ?, Maine.¹ She was the daughter of Otis Henry Sewall and Elizabeth Martin.¹ Charlie A. Sewall died on 24 October 1864 in Chesterville, Franklin County, Maine, ¹ and is buried in Zion Hill Cemetery, Farmington, Maine.²

     Charlotte Sewall was born on 24 January 1792 in Hallowell, Kennebec, Maine.² She was the daughter of Moses Sewall and Ruth Barrell.¹ Charlotte Sewall married Hezekiah Wright on 14 December 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts.³ Charlotte Sewall died on 19 October 1874 in Newton, Massachusetts, at the age of 82.⁴

     Charlotte (Lottie) Goldsmith Sewall was born on 14 February 1874 in St. Paul, Minnesota.^2,1 She was the daughter of David Jewett Sewall and Josephine Perkins Crouse.² Charlotte (Lottie) Goldsmith Sewall married George Lewis Coburn on 25 October 1893.² Charlotte (Lottie) Goldsmith Sewall died on 22 March 1926 in Melrose, Massachusetts, at the age of 52.²

     Charlotte Elizabeth Sewall was born in July 1851 in Bath, Maine, (Sinnett gives 11 July 1844).^1,2,3 She was the daughter of Jacob Smith Sewall and Charlotte W. Holmes.¹ Charlotte Elizabeth Sewall appears on the census of 1910 at Winchester, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, unmarried, living with her sister and their mother.⁴

     Charlotte Sophia Sewall was born on 22 September 1816 in Hallowell, Kennebec, Maine.³ She was the daughter of David Sewall and Hannah Barrell.² Charlotte Sophia Sewall married Benjamin C. Eastman on 20 July 1841 in Hallowell.¹ Charlotte Sophia Sewall died on 25 May 1896 in York, Maine, at the age of 79.¹

     Christopher Sewall was born in 1949.¹ He was the son of Joseph Sewall Sewall III and Helen Hage.¹ Christopher Sewall died before 4 April 1993 not mentioned in his father's death notice.²

     Clair Sewall was the daughter of Major Nicholas Sewall and Susanna Burgess.¹ Clair Sewall married firstly Thomas Tasker, son of John Tasker and Eleanor Brooke. Clair Sewall married secondly William Young before 1737.^2,3

     Clara Elizabeth Sewall is also recorded as Elizabeth Sewall.² She was born on 24 July 1913 in Island Falls, Maine.¹ She was the daughter of Fred Stinson Sewall and Phyllis G. Garverich.¹ Clara Elizabeth Sewall married Douglas Schurman.³ Clara Elizabeth Sewall died in September 1987 probably in Island Falls, Maine, at the age of 74.²

     Clara Mae Sewall was born circa 1907 in Wilton, Maine.¹ She was the daughter of Henry Augustus Sewall and Alice B. (Unknown).¹ In March 1912 she had an operation on her throat.²

     Clara Perley Sewall was born on 22 September 1878 in Gardiner, Kennebec County, Maine.² She was the daughter of James Hale Sewall and Susan Ann Michel Bradley.¹ Clara Perley Sewall married Dr. Ross Chauncey Whitman on 11 December 1901.¹ Clara Perley Sewall and Dr. Ross Chauncey Whitman appear on the census of 1930 at Boulder, Colorado, he is a teacher at the University of Colorado. There are no children recorded in the 1910, 1920 or 1930 census.³
