     Ann Scott Bell was born on 31 August 1814.4 She was the daughter of George Bell and Ann Scott.1,2,3 Ann Scott Bell was christened on 25 September 1814 at Jedburgh, Roxburgshire.2 She appears on the census of 30 March 1851 at Menslaws, Bedrule, Roxburgshire. She married, as his second wife, John Craw, son of John Craw and Margaret Purves, on 28 October 1863 in Jedburgh, Roxburgshire.5 Ann Scott Bell died on 17 June 1881 at the age of 66 at 48 Castlegate, Jedburgh, at 5.30 in the morning. The cause of death is given as softening of the brain from which she had suffered for a year.5 She was buried in New Cemetery, Jedburgh,,

The kinsfolk of Sir Walter Scott are becoming "wede away." Mrs. Craw has died at Jedburgh. She was Ann Scott Bell, her mother being a daughter of a brother of Sir Walter's father — the Mr. Thomas Scott of Monklaw, near Jedburgh, who died in 1822, of whom Lockhart gives some curious notices in the "Life." Border Counties' Magazine p. 36.6

In 1897 the estate of Lanton Tower, Jedburgh, belonging to the trustees of the estate of the late Mrs Ann Scott Bell or Craw was put up for sale together with some subjects in the village of Lanton, the property of the estate of her late husband.7

Euphemia Bell

F, b. circa 1796, d. 24 September 1869
     Euphemia Bell was born circa 1796 in Fife.1 She married James Webster, son of Alexander Webster and Janet Campbell, on 29 November 1831 in Crail, Fife. Euphemia Bell and James Webster appear in the 1851 census at Langhousegreen, Crail, Fife, Webster is listed as the parochial schoolmaster.2 Euphemia Bell died on 24 September 1869.3
