Professor of Mathematics and Mechanical Philosophy at Ohio Wesleyan University. Prof. Lorenzo Dow McCabe was born on 7 January 1817 in Marietta, Ohio.1 He was the son of Robert McCabe and Polly McCracken.1 Prof. Lorenzo Dow McCabe married, as his first wife, Martha E. Sewall, daughter of Daniel Sewall and Martha Tolman, on 28 July 1845 in Wesley Chapel, Washington, District of Columbia.1,2 Prof. Lorenzo Dow McCabe married secondly Harriet Clarke in 1857 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.1 Prof. Lorenzo Dow McCabe died on 18 June 1897 in Delaware, Ohio, at the age of 80.1 Dr McCabe was one of the most genial, deservedly popular, and influential men in the Methodist Episcopal church and in educational circles. In 1838 he entered the Ohio University, at Athens, and graduated from there in 1843 under Dr. Wm. H. McGuffey ; he immediately joined the Worthington Circuit, and in 1844 was elected Professor of Mathematics of the Ohio University ; in 1845, he was elected to a chair in the Ohio Wesleyan University, at Delaware, and in 1860 was elected Professor of Philosophy in the the same institution; he has been Vice President of the Wesleyan University since 1860, and, during this period, has served five years as President of the institution He received the degree of Doctor of Divinity from Allegheny College in 1885, and Doctor of Laws from Syracuse University in 1875. Besides valuable contributions to church periodicals, Dr McCabe has written several books such as The Philosophy of Holiness, The Foreknowledge of God and Cognate Subjects and the Divine Nescience.1

St. George Stephen Tyndale McClellan was born on 23 April 1909. He was the son of John William Tyndale McClellan CMG and Edith Doyle Sewell. St. George Stephen Tyndale McClellan died on 31 December 1938 in Grindelwald, Switzerland, at the age of 29 in an avalanche. He was in a group attempting the traverse between the Kleine Scheidegg and the Männlichen, he apparently did not hear the warning shouted by the guide and was overwhelmed by the avalanche. His body was recovered after two hours' search. At the time he was a master in an English school at Château-d'Oex.1
