     Joanna Hoar was born between 1645 and 1650? In Scituate. She was the daughter of John Hoar and Alice (Unknown). Joanna Hoar married Ezra Morse on 18 February 1669/70 in Dedham.¹ Joanna Hoar died on 21 December 1691 in Braintree, Massachusetts.¹ Note: "It seems quite certain that Joanna, wife of Ezra Morse, must have belonged to this family, and that she was named for the widow Joanna Hoar, who came to Braintree in 1642. Dedham adjoins Braintree and Joanna Morse died in Braintree where Joanna Hoar's two daughters lived. There is no evidence that Thomas Hoar who lived in England ever had any children or that any children of his ever came to New England. There is no evidence that Daniel ever had any daughter who came here, and there is no evidence that his son ever lived here. There can, therefore, be little doubt that Joanna Hoar, wife of Ezra Morse, was an unrecorded child of John Hoar, born while he lived at Scituate about 1645-1650, as all the children of John Hoar are not surely known."      John Hoar was born say 1619 in Gloucester. He was the son of Charles Hoar and Joanna Hincksman.¹ He was a lawyer, distinguished for his courage and independence. He lived at Scituate, Massachusetts, from 1643 to 1655 and settled about 1660 in Concord, Massachusetts, where his descendants have been prominent. In 1676 John Hoar represented the colonial authorities in securing by ransom the release of Mrs. Rowlandson from the Indians.^2,3 John Hoar married Alice (Unknown) circa 1645 in Scituate.^2,4 John Hoar died on 2 April 1704 intestate.
