When war broke out took the first train to Winnipeg, enlisted, machine gun section, exchanged into the Princess Pats, D.C.M. at Ypres, got his commission in the 26th Battalion, 5th Brigade, wounded on the Somme, fought through Vimy Ridge.3 Lt. Arthur Garnet Slane Fleming DCM died on 15 August 1917 in Lens, France.1 He was buried in I.K. 14, Aix-Noulette Cemetery Extension, Pas de Calais, France.1
