General Samuel Fessenden was born on 16 July 1784 in Fryeburg, Maine.1 He was the son of Rev. William Fessenden and Sarah Clement.1 General Samuel Fessenden graduated in 1806 from Dartmouth.1 He was admitted to the bar in 1809, and practised at New Gloucester. He was a member of the general court of Massachusetts, 1814-16, and a state senator, 1818-19. He was major-general of the 12th division, Massachusets militia, 1819-33. He removed to Portland in 1822, and was an acknowledged leader in the state of the Federalist party, a representative in the Maine legislature in 1825-26, and an early anti-slavery advocate. He declined to be considered for the presidency of Dartmouth in 1828, and was defeated as the candidate of the Liberal party for governor of Maine in 1847, and for representative in congress in 1848. Bowdoin gave him the degree of LL.D. in 1846.1 He married Deborah Chandler in 1813.1 General Samuel Fessenden died on 13 March 1869 in Portland, Maine, at the age of 84.1

Samuel Clement Fessenden was born on 7 March 1815 in New Gloucester, Maine.1 He was the son of General Samuel Fessenden and Deborah Chandler.1 He graduated from Bowdoin in 1834 and Bangor theological seminary in 1837. He was pastor of the 2d Congregational church, Rockland, Maine, 1837-56, editor and proprietor of the Maine Evangelist, 1856-58, and was admitted to the bar in 1858. He was judge of the municipal court of Rockland and a representative in the 37th congress, 1861-63. He was on the board of examiners of the U.S. patent office, 1865-79, and U.S. consul to St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, 1879-81.1 Samuel Clement Fessenden died on 18 April 1882 in Stamford, Connecticut, at the age of 67.1

Rev. Pindar Field was born on 1 May 1794 in Sunderland, Franklin County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Elijah Field and Tryphena Cooley. Rev. Pindar Field graduated in 1826 from Amherst College M.A.2 He married firstly Chiffaenette LaGrass Walton on 27 April 1831. Rev. Pindar Field married secondly Mary Margaret Sewall, daughter of Joseph Sewall and Hannah Shaw, in November 1859.1 Rev. Pindar Field and Mary Margaret Sewall were living at Hamilton, New York, in 1860 where he was a Congregational missionary.1 Rev. Pindar Field died on 24 November 1873 in Hamilton, New York, at the age of 79.
