     Alfred King of England, Alfred the Great was born in 849 in Wantage, Dorset.1,2 He was the son of Ethelwulf King of Wessex and Osburga of Hampshire.2,3 Alfred King of England, Alfred the Great married Ethelswitha daughter of Aethelred,, daughter of Aethelred Mucel, Ealdorman of the Gainas and Princess Edburga of Mercia,, in 868 in Winchester.4 Alfred King of England, Alfred the Great died on 26 October 899 and was buried in Newminster Abbey, Winchester. His remains were later removed to Hyde Abbey, Winchester, which was destroyed during the Reformation. The present site of his grave is unknown. His bones may possibly lie in one of the mortuary chests in Winchester Cathedral.1,4

     Edmund I King of England, Edmund the Magnificent was born in 920.1 He was the son of Edward I King of England, Edward the Elder and Edgiva of Kent.1 Edmund I King of England, Edmund the Magnificent married Saint Elgiva circa 940.2 Edmund I King of England, Edmund the Magnificent was murdered on 26 May 946 in Pucklechurch, Dorset, when an outlaw named Liofa stabbed him whilst he was dining in his hall. He was buried in Glastonbury Abbey, Somerset. He was succeeded by his brother Edred.2
