Scott was born Feb. 22, 1962 in Fort Worth to parents Joe and Ann Sewell Cone. He was a former resident of Lake Worth and resided in Dayton for the past 30 years. He was a graduate of the Lake Worth High School class of 1980.

He began his career with the Western Company of North America moving to Dayton, followed by a twenty-five carrier with DOW Chemical of LaPorte, a former operator and emergency response team member of DOW Chemical.

He attended the First Baptist Church of Dayton and enjoyed working out, hunting, and cooking.

Scott had numerous friends and will be remembered for his ability to never give up. His motto, throughout life was, "Never quit, always keep trying and take one day at a time."

His father Joe Cone preceded him in death.

Wendell “Scott” Cone is survived by his son Brent Cone and wife Brittany of Dayton, daughter Madison Cone of Dayton, granddaughter on the way Audrey Cone, mother Ann Sewell Cone of Lake Worth, brothers Steve Cone of Argyle, Stan Cone of Magnolia, and Shawn Cone of Fort Worth, mother of his children Celida Cone of Dayton, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his special pet Champ.
