     Donald Charles Cameron Crombie was born on 19 January 1876 in Enniskillen, Blackall. He was the son of James Crombie and Isabella Harriett Cameron.¹ Donald Charles Cameron Crombie married Mildred Ida Lloyd Hart, daughter of Graham Lloyd Hart and Sarah Roberts, on 18 February 1905 in St Andrew's C of E., Indooroopilly. Donald Charles Cameron Crombie died on 9 August 1951 in Skye, Toowoomba, at the age of 75.²

     Pilot Officer Donald Charles Cameron Crombie also known as Cam Crombie.¹ He was born on 2 March 1915 in Longreach. He was the son of Donald Charles Cameron Crombie and Mildred Ida Lloyd Hart. Pilot Officer Donald Charles Cameron Crombie died on 31 March 1944 in near Neustadt, Germany, at the age of 29 shot down flying a Lancaster bomber on the Nuremburg Raid the night of 30/31st March. His name is to be found on Panel 258 of the Runnymede Memorial.^2,3

     Dorothy George "Tuckie" Crombie was born on 3 March 1888 in Madras, India.² She was the daughter of David Alexander John Crombie and Mary Forrester Fortune. Dorothy George "Tuckie" Crombie died in 1977.¹

Elizabeth Campbell Crombie was christened on 2 October 1828 at Anstruther Easter, Fife.² She married Peter Greig on 10 April 1856 (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~usher/ushersct/3965.htm says the marriage took place on 10 April 1856 in Geelong, Australia).^1,3 Elizabeth Campbell Crombie and Peter Greig were appeared in the Census of 1881 together with three of their children at Dumbarton Road, Clydeview, Lanarkshire.³ Elizabeth Campbell Crombie died on 16 November 1887 at 11 Clydeview, Partick, at the age of 59 of apoplexy.⁴

     Euphemia Crombie was born on 25 October 1819 in Fife.¹ She was the daughter of John Crombie and Euphemia Wallace.¹ Euphemia Crombie was christened on 9 November 1819 at Kilconquhar, Fife.¹

     Gladys Elizabeth Crombie was born on 14 August 1920 in Longreach.¹ She was the daughter of James Crombie and Amy Gladys Kirk Flower. Gladys Elizabeth Crombie is also recorded as Beth. In August 1961 She was appointed as the first female Probation Officer, by the Justice Department in Queensland.

     Helen Isabella Maule Crombie was born on 15 July 1904. She was the daughter of David William Alexander Crombie and Edith Mary Milman. Helen Isabella Maule Crombie married Jonathan Fleming Robert Boadle in 1937. Helen Isabella Maule Crombie died between 17 October 1950 and 17 October 1959.

     James Crombie was born on 8 June 1834 in Kilminning Farm, Crail, Fife.¹ He was the son of David Guillan Crombie and Janet Campbell (Jessie) Webster. James Crombie was christened on 25 June 1834 at Crail, Fife.¹ He was educated at Madras College, St. Andrews. He emigrated on 22 September 1852 from Greenock; on the ship Typhoon 965 tons. Master Alex. D. Smith. The ships masts were damaged in a gale off Portugal, they arrived Melbourne on 4th March 1853. Upon reaching Melbourne he prospected with fair success at Bakery Hill, Ballarat. Joined by his brother William, Crombie commenced mixed farming at Mount Prospect, Creswick, and developed a close relationship with the family of John Cameron. Crombie was an active member of the Creswick District Road Board, the Bullarook Farmers' Common and the Smeaton, Spring Hill and Bullarook Agricultural Association. He embarked on a Pastoral trek to Queensland with the Camerons in 1863.

The partnership stocked Barcaldine Downs in 1864-78 and later leased Kensington Downs and Greenhills, near Mutaburra in the Mitchell district. Crombie visited Britain in 1877-79 and, in 1881, the brothers took control of Greenhills. James moved to Brisbane and also purchased a large Fassifern farm. He became a director of the Royal Bank of Queensland and the Queensland Meat Export and Agency Co., and joined the Queensland Meat and Dairy Board. Representing Mitchell in 1888-93, and Warrego in 1893-98, Crombie was one of the last of the pioneer Central Queensland squatters to enter parliament. Publicly taciturn and blunt, he was uninterested in political advancement although privately warm hearted and genial. He raised his widower brother's four children.

Crombie was foundation treasurer of the United Pastoralists' Association of Queensland (1891-96), and delegate to all conventions of the Pastoralists' Federal Council of Australia during the shearing strikes of 1891 and 1894. In 1889 he believed that "the (trade) union had been a blessing to the district", but by 1891 he eulogized the role of the defence forces in the great confrontation. Similarly, in 1894, he was one of the more intransigent of the employers, a position he admitted had been forced upon him by falling prices, rising rents and militant unionists. He judged the pastoralists' victory as a logical triumph of commonsense over the "threats and intimidation by certain union leaders' who were 'rightly rejected by the very bushmen they purported to represent".

Like other Victorian 'gold rushers' but not his Queensland confreres, Crombie was a protectionist who advocated state assistance to create a sturdy section of western grazing farmers. But these views were subordinated to the efforts he made to preserve dwindling family-structured pastoral empires mired in the quicksands of post-1889 Queensland. His utterances during 1894-95 reflect both their and his bewilderment at the threat of radical change and the frustrations of pioneer aspirations forged a generation before. Still, he had contributed substantially to the establishment and diversification of sound, productive rural enterprise in Queensland, and his conservative opinions concealed a successful rearguard action. He preserved family properties, helped maintain the political status quo and successfully curtailed the 'socialist menace' before Federation. D. B. He married Isabella Harriett Cameron, daughter of Donald Charles Cameron and Margaret Anne Moore, on 1 December 1869 in the Presbyterian Church, Springsure, Queensland.³ James Crombie died on 17 September 1898 in Oriel, Albion, Brisbane, at the age of 64 of pneumonia (heart disease according to ADB).^4,5 He was buried in the Presbyterian section of Toowong cemetery,

The funeral of the late Mr. James Crombie, M.L.A., took place yesterday afternoon, and was very largely attended. Before the cortege started from the deceased gentleman's late residence, Oriel road, Albion, a most impressive service was conducted by the Rev. John Barr. The cortege then formed and moved into town, via Ann-street, where a large number of influential citizens joined in the mournful procession. On arrival at the Toowong Cemetery, a large number of relatives of the deceased gentleman were assembled, there being present Mrs. Crombie, widow of the deceased gentleman ; Mrs. M. A. Cameron, Mrs. P. Cameron, Mrs. Snow, and Mrs. Lawrence (sisters of the deceased). Miss Jessie Crombie (daughter), Misses May and Janet Crombie, and Miss Vera Cameron (nieces), Mr. James Crombie (the youngest son). The two eldest sons were not pre- sent, they being away on the station ; Messrs W. A. Snow and John A. Cameron (brothers-in-law).
The burial service at the grave was most impressive, and was conducted by the Revs. John Barr and T. Nisbet. The coffin was literally covered with wreaths and other floral offerings, which were of the most beautiful description. Wreaths were sent by the Ministry, Mrs. M. A.      James Crombie was born on 20 October 1881 in Greenhills, Longreach.¹ He was the son of James Crombie and Isabella Harriett Cameron.¹ He was a grazier. James Crombie married Amy Gladys Kirk Flower, daughter of John Flower and Dora (Unknown), on 2 April 1913.² James Crombie died on 30 March 1942 at the age of 60 behind the wheel of the Dodge utility.^1,3 He was buried among some vine trees near the Beryl house.³

     James Campbell Crombie was born on 4 August 1916.^1,2 He was the son of Colonel David Campbell Crombie CBE.¹ James Campbell Crombie died circa January 1998 in Devon.²

     Janet Crombie is also recorded as Janet Crammy.¹ She was born or baptised on 27 February 1791 in Kettle, Fife.¹ She was the daughter of John Crombie and Elizabeth Guillan.¹

     Janet Lawrence Crombie was born on 13 July 1878 in Kilmining, Crail.² She was the daughter of William Crombie and Margaret Anne Cameron.¹ Janet Lawrence Crombie married Dr. Valentine McDowell. Janet Lawrence Crombie died on 2 July 1955 in England at the age of 76.¹

     Janet Margaret Crombie was born in December 1947.¹ She died on 23 April 1949 in Queensland at the age of 1.²

     Jessie Campbell Crombie was born on 15 October 1836 in Killmining, Crail, Fife.¹ She was the daughter of David Guillan Crombie and Janet Campbell (Jessie) Webster. Jessie Campbell Crombie was christened on 29 December 1836 at Crail, Fife.² She married Dr. George Lawence, son of George Lawence and Helen Mill, on 22 November 1859 in Kilminning, Crail, Fife, the marriage was performed by the Rev. William Merson of Crail.^3,4 Jessie Campbell Crombie appears in the Census of 1881 at Killmining Farmhouse, Crail, Fife.⁵ She died on 4 December 1911 at the Royal Scottish Nursing Home, Edinburgh, at the age of 75 s.p. The entry in the Statutory Register indicates her usual address to have been Brisbane, Australia.^1,6

     Jessie Webster Crombie was born on 21 January 1878 in Kilmining, Crail, whilst the families were visiting Scotland from Australia.² She was the daughter of James Crombie and Isabella Harriett Cameron.¹ The announcement of her engagement to Albert Alexander Donaldson was made on 13 May 1899.³ Jessie Webster Crombie married Albert Alexander Donaldson, son of John Donaldson, on 10 December 1902 in Wickham Terrace Church, Brisbane. Jessie Webster Crombie died on 8 November 1961 in Brisbane at the age of 83.

     Joan Minto Crombie is also recorded as Jo.¹ She was born on 4 July 1909 in Sark, Channel Islands.^2,3 She was the daughter of William Claude David Crombie and Edith Mary Lawrence.¹

     Joanna Matilda Crombie was born on 30 September 1834 in St. Andrews, Fife.^1,2 She was the daughter of John Crombie and Euphemia Wallace.¹ Joanna Matilda Crombie was christened on 19 October 1834 at St. Andrews, Fife.²

Margaret Ann (May) Crombie died on 4 October 1943 at the age of 67.¹

     Margaret Beatrice Crombie was born on 6 February 1880 in William Street, Brisbane.² She was the daughter of James Crombie and Isabella Harriett Cameron.¹ Margaret Beatrice Crombie married Percy Lloyd Hart, son of Graham Lloyd Hart and Sarah Roberts, in 1904. Margaret Beatrice Crombie was living in 90 Oriel Road, Brisbane. She died on 17 July 1965 in Queensland at the age of 85.
